Celebrated cinematographer who died at the age of 78.

The director of photography was born in Wisconsin in 1933 and he went on to lend his artistic talents to a number of hit films, including Footloose, Sylvester Stallone thriller Cobra, Patrick Swayze drama Red Dawn and Eddie Murphy's 48 Hrs. Other films included Uncommon Valor, Summer Rental, Brewster's Millions, Adventures in Babysitting, Great Outdoors, and various Steven Seagal films including Marked for Death, Out for Justice, and On Deadly Ground.

Waite won the following awards: 'Emmy' Award [1976/7] for 'Captains and the Kings' [Chapter 1]; 'Emmy' Award nom [1976/7] for 'Tail Gunner Joe'; 'Emmy' Award nom [1977/8] for 'The Life and Assassination of the Kingfish'; CableACE Award nom [1993] for 'Last Light'; 'Emmy' Award nom [1996] for 'Andersonville' [Part II].
