Jenny Tomasin

Died January 19, 2012. Born November 30, 1936.
English actress best known for her roles in Upstairs, Downstairs and Emmerdale. Her death was reported on 19 January 2012.
Tomasin became well known in the early 1970s when she joined the cast of Upstairs, Downstairs as kitchen maid Ruby. She stayed with the series until the end in 1975, appearing in 41 episodes. Plans were drawn up for a spin off series following the further adventures of Ruby with Hudson and Mrs Bridges, but because of the death of Angela Baddeley, who played Mrs Bridges, the series was never made.
In recent years Tomasin's TV appearances had been mostly confined to talking about her time in Upstairs Downstairs, and her difficulties staying in the acting profession. She had a role in the 1985 Doctor Who story Revelation of the Daleks.
Between 2005-06 she was a member of the cast of the soap Emmerdale as Noreen Bell, a cantankerous villager, who was killed off in July 2006. This role was the second character she had played in the soap as she played Naomi Tolly (1981–1982), daughter of Enoch Tolly, killed in a tractor accident in the soap.
